De Jonge to Play in East-West Matches

    COLUMBUS, Oh. - Virginia Tech's Brendon de Jonge will play in the 2002 East-West All-Star Matches on Monday morning at the OSU Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.

    De Jonge, a junior from Harare, Zimbabwe, is one of 36 players selected for the event. De Jonge will tee off at 9:20 a.m. in a singles match against Jason Allred from Pepperdine. Brandt Snedeker of Vanderbilt faces off against Bret Guetz of TCU in the other match of the foursome.

    One golfer from each of the 30 schools competing in the 2002 NCAA Golf Championship, plus each of the six individual competitors play in the event, presented by TwinHill Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America. This is the first event of Championship Week at Ohio State. Team competition in the championship begins Wednesday morning.
