Stinnett, Kraner Named All-State
Hokies named to first and second teams
July 15, 2004 BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech golfers Ryan Stinnett and Joel Kraner have been named to the Virginia State Golf Coaches Association's All-State teams. Stinnett, a May graduate from Amherst, Va., was named first team All-State. He won medalist honors at the 2004 BIG EAST Conference Championship and participated in the 2004 NCAA Golf Championships East Regional in New Haven, Conn., in May. He led the Hokies in stroke average this season (72.87) and competed in four straight NCAA Championships. Stinnett was a second team selection in 2003. He is fourth in on the all-time scoring average list at Virginia Tech. Earlier this month, Stinnett finished second at the VSGA State Amateur at the Roanoke Country Club. Kraner, a rising junior from Dublin, Ohio, is a second team selection. Kraner was second on the team in stroke average this season (74.87) and finished 15th at the BIG EAST Championships. Kraner's best finish of the season was a fifth place finish at the Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken, S.C.
