HOT SPRINGS, Va. - Virginia Tech shot an 18-hole total of 308 and is in 15th place at The Preview by Ping & Golfweek at the 6,679-yard, par 70 Cascades Golf Course at the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Va. on Monday afternoon.

The tournament was shortened to 36 holes on Monday when rain forced the cancellation of the second round of Monday. The tournament will conclude Tuesday. Tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m.

Sophomore Sam Nicholson (Augusta, Ga.) and senior Ryan Stinnett (Amherst, Va,) are tied for 36th individually, each shooting a five-over-par 75. Kevin Silva of North Carolina has the individual lead, after shooting a two-under-par 68 on Monday.

Freshman Ryan Sypniewski (Radford, Va.) is tied for 47th at 76 and sophomore Joel Kraner (Dublin, Ohio) is 73rd at 82. Freshman Ryan Hillstrom (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) is tied for 74th place at 83.

Defending national champion Clemson shot a first round 287 and leads second place Augusta State by three strokes entering the final round. The Jaguars, the tournament's defending champion, shot 290 on Monday. North Carolina is third at 291 and Florida and Wake Forest are tied for fourth at 292. Tournament host Virginia Tech is in 15th place at 308.

The tournament, hosted by Virginia Tech, features the top field in collegiate golf this fall. The top seven teams in the nation are competing in this event. Virginia Tech is paired with Auburn and UNLV in Tuesday's final round. The Hokies tee off on the 10th hole, beginning at 7:57 a.m., weather permitting.
