New York, N.Y. - Virginia Tech is ranked 19th nationally in the initial Golfworld Men's Coaches poll, as selected by Division I golf coaches.

Tech golfer Brendon de Jonge, a senior from Harare, Zimbabwe, is ranked 10th on the magazine's list of "Players to Watch". De Jonge was a second team All-American last season and first team all-region and all-state selection.

The Hokies finished the 2002 season with a 20th place finish at the NCAA Division I Golf Championship at the Scarlet Course of the Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio in June.

Tech opens Fall 2002 play next week, as they compete in the Cleveland Golf/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate at the Turtle Point course of the Kiawah Island Resort in Kiawah, S.C. Sept. 9-10.
