CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Virginia Tech shot an eight-over-par 296 in the second round and is tied for seventh place at the Franklin Street Partners Invitational at the par-72, 7,199 yard UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C. after Saturday's second round.

Freshman Chad Fultz (Staunton, Va.) leads the Hokies with a two-round total of one-over par 145, following a one-under-par 71 in Saturday's second round. He is tied for 20th place overall. East Tennessee State's Rhys Davies leads the event at eight-under-par 136.

Redshirt senior Scott Wise (Vinton, Va.) is tied for 22nd overall at 146 and junior Joel Kraner (Dublin, Ohio) is tied for 33rd at 151. Junior Sam Nicholson (Augusta, Ga.) is tied for 35th at 152 and sophomore Ryan Sypniewski (Radford, Va.) is tied for 37th place at 154.

Host North Carolina leads the tournament with a two round total of 563, one stroke ahead of Georgia Southern and five strokes ahead of first-round leader Virginia. UNC Charlotte is fourth at 581, Tulsa is fifth at 582 and East Tennessee State is sixth at 583. The Hokies and UNC Wilmington are tied for seventh at 590 and East Carolina is ninth at 606.

Tech shot a 294 in Friday's first round and entered Saturday in seventh place. The 54-hole tournament concludes with a final 18 holes on Sunday.
