Hokies Sign Fultz to Golf Letter
Staunton native to join Tech in 2004

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech Head Golf Coach Jay Hardwick has announced the signing of Chad Fultz to a national letter of intent for the 2004-05 academic year.

Fultz, from Staunton, Va., attends Robert E. Lee High School. He was an all-state selection in 2002 and 2003, as well as being named the region's Player of the Year. He was an all-district selection for each of the past four years.

Fultz was selected as a member of the Virginia/West Virginia Junior team and the Virginias/Carolinas Junior team in 2002 and 2003. He finished third in the Virginia State Junior Championship in 2002 and fifth in 2003. He finished fourth at the AJGA ClubCorp Junior Championship at The Homestead in 2003 and won the 2003 Lakeview Amateur in 2003. Also in 2003, he finished tied for ninth in the Virginia Men's State Amateur Championship, falling in the second round to Hokie golfer Ryan Stinnett.

"Chad has been one of the top young players in the state for the past two years and has had an outstanding junior career," Hardwick said. "We are excited about having him as a member of our team and look for him to make an immediate impact on our program."
