Virginia Tech Golf Coach Jay Hardwick has announced the signing of Joel Kraner to a national letter of intent for the 2002-2003 academic year.

Kraner attends Bishop Watterson High School in Dublin, Ohio. He qualified for both the 2000 & 2001 USGA Junior Championship and finished ninth in 2001 US Junior Championship.

"Joel's success on the national level should make him a player that we can count on immediately," Hardwick said. "He has an excellent record and should have an outstanding career at Virginia Tech."

Kraner finished second in 2001 AJGA Kroger Junior Invitational and is ranked 82nd in the country in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings. He was an all-state selection last year in Ohio.
