Hokies 10th in Golf Poll

Virginia Tech's golf team is tied with Arizona for 10th in the current Golf World Collegiate Top 25 Poll. Defending national champion Florida is ranked number-one.

The Hokies began the year ranked 12th in the poll, but moved into the top 10 with a fifth place finish at the 2001 Ping/Golfweek Preview and a victory at the Duke Golf Classic.

Tech is ranked 18th in the current Golfweek/Sagarin poll. Brendon de Jonge is ranked seventh individually in the poll, while Johnson Wagner is ranked 54th and Ryan Stinnett is ranked 101st.

In the Golfstat.com NCAA Division I head-to-head rankings, the Hokies are ranked ninth nationally. De Jonge is ranked 17th individually, while Wagner is ranked 103rd.

The Hokies will complete the fall season on Nov. 9-11, at the Long Cove Collegiate Invitational at the Long Cove Golf Club in Hilton Head, S.C. The event includes a majority of the teams ranked in the top 20.
