Wise, Sypniewski Earn All-State Honors
Hokies named to first and second teams

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech golfers Scott Wise and Ryan Sypniewski have been named to the Virginia State Golf Coaches Association's All-State teams.

Wise, a May graduate from Vinton, Va., was named first team All-State. He was the Hokies' top scorer this past season, with a 74.47 stroke average. Wise played in all 10 events and was the Hokies' low scorer in five of those tournaments, and was second-low scorer in four more events.

Sypniewski, a rising junior from Radford, Va., is a second team selection. Sypniewski was second on the team in stroke average this season (75.17). He also played in all 10 events and was the Hokies' low scorer in three tournaments and second-low scorer in three others.

Virginia Tech opens the 2005-06 season on Sept. 12 at the Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions in Knoxville, Tenn.
