GREENVILLE, S.C. - Virginia Tech fired the low completed round on Saturday and are tied for fourth place in the suspended second round at the Furman Intercollegiate at the par-72, 6,800-yard Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.

Play was suspended for two hours in the morning due to lightening and heavy rain. Tech shot an even-par 288 and jumped up into a tie with East Carolina for fourth place. Fifteen of the 24 teams were able to complete their second rounds on Saturday before play was suspended due to darkness.

Round one leader Chattanooga also completed their second round with a two-round total of 577 and is 10 strokes ahead of the Hokies. Only four of the top 10 teams have completed their rounds and only the Mocs have posted a two-round score better than the Hokies.

Spurring the Hokies' strong round was Nick MacDonald (Sr., Harare, Zimbabwe), who shot a four-under-par 68 and has moved into a second place tie. His 68 was the low round posted before the suspension. Garland Green (Fr., Tazewell, Va.), who is playing the event as an individual, continued his strong play with an even-par 72 and is currently tied for ninth.

Play will resume on Sunday morning at 7:45 a.m. and the final round will begin at 8:30 a.m.
