AUGUSTA, Ga. – Virginia Tech shot a two-round total of 574 and is in 13th place at the Administaff Augusta State Invitational at the par-72, 7,161-yard Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., on Saturday. The Hokies shot even-par 288 in the morning's first round and a two-under-par 286 in the second round.
Senior Drew Weaver (High Point, N.C.) leads the Hokies with a two-round total of two-under-par 142 and is tied for 31st place. He is nine strokes behind leader Roberto Diaz of USC-Aiken.
Sophomore Marshall Bailey (Fincastle, Va.) is tied for 41st at 143 and redshirt junior Matt Boyd (Sugar Land, Texas) is tied for 50th at 144. Sophomore Garland Green (Tazewell, Va.) is tied for 57th at 145 and redshirt senior Will Oldham (Spartanburg, S.C.) is tied for 72nd at 148.
Host Augusta State leads the tournament with a two-round total of 25-under-par 551, six strokes ahead of UCF. Chattanooga is third at 559, Kent State is fourth at 561, Coastal Carolina is fifth at 562 and Duke is sixth at 564. Georgia State is seventh at 566, Georgia Southern is eighth at 567, VCU is ninth at 570 and USC-Aiken is tenth at 571. Minnesota and Tennessee are tied for 11th at 572, two strokes ahead of the Hokies. Houston is 14th at 577, Charlotte and Lamar are tied for 15th at 581 and North Carolina is 17th at 584.
The 17-team tournament features a strong national field, including three ACC teams. The final round will tee off Sunday morning.
