BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech golf team will wrap up the fall portion of this year’s schedule, as they travel to Greensboro, N.C., to compete in the fifth annual UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate, Oct. 24-25. The tournament will be played at the 7,197-yard, par-72 Forest Oaks Country Club.
The field for this year’s event will include eight teams that currently rank in the nation’s Top 50 by Golfweek/Sagarin, including the Hokies. This group features No. 9 Augusta State, No. 10 Tennessee, No. 20 Duke, No. 25 Virginia, No. 35 VCU and No. 39 North Carolina. Virginia Tech enters the event ranked 30th by Golfstat.com and 31st by Golfweek/Sagarin.
Junior Marshall Bailey (Fincastle, Va.) will play in the first spot for the Hokies, following his 11th place finish at the Ridges last week. Freshman Mikey Moyers (Standardsville, Va.) will play in the second position. Moyers is coming off his fifth place finish at the Ridges, his best collegiate finish. Junior Garland Green (Tazewell, Va.) will play in the third position, after his career-best tie for second at the Ridges. Junior Aaron Eckstein (Salem, Va.) will play four and sophomore Blake Redmond (Sugar Land, Tex.) will play in the fifth spot in Greensboro.
The tournament will once again be played at the scenic Forest Oaks Country Club, past home of the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship. Originally opened in 1962 and built by Ellis Maples, the course underwent a redesign by Davis Love III in 2002
