GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Virginia Tech shot a two-round total of six-over-par 582 and is tied with Toledo for 12th place at the fifth annual UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate on Saturday. The tournament is being played at the 7,197-yard, par-72 Forest Oaks Country Club.
Junior Marshall Bailey (Fincastle, Va.) leads the Hokies with a three-under-par 141 and is in 17th place. He trails leaders Jack Schultz of Michigan and Jack Fields of North Carolina by six strokes.
Sophomore Blake Redmond (Sugar Land, Tex.) is tied for 27th at even-par 144 and junior Garland Green (Tazewell, Va.) is tied for 55th place at 150. Junior Aaron Eckstein (Salem, Va.) and freshman Mikey Moyers (Standardsville, Va.) are tied for 64th place at 151.
Michigan holds the lead entering Sunday’s final round, with a two-round total of 16-under-par 560, four strokes ahead of Georgia Tech. Virginia is third at 569, Tennessee and Augusta State are tied for fourth at 570, Duke is sixth at 573 and Purdue is seventh at 576. North Carolina is ninth at 577, VCU is 10th at 579 and UNC Wilmington is 11th at 580, two strokes ahead of the Hokies and Rockets. Minnesota is 14th at 584 and Notre Dame is 15th at 591.
The Hokies are scheduled to tee off beginning at 9:42 a.m. from the 10th tee on Sunday morning. This is Tech’s final tournament of the fall season.
