AUGUSTA, Ga.– The Virginia Tech golf team posted a two-round total of 579 and is in 13th place in the Administaff/Augusta State Invitational, at the par 72, 7,231-yard Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. Tech shot rounds of 296 and 283 on Saturday.
Junior Marshall Bailey (Fincastle, Va.) and freshman Mikey Moyers (Stanardsville, Va.) each shot three-under-par 141 and are tied for 22nd place entering the final round. The duo reached their identical totals in different fashions, as Bailey shot rounds of 71 and 70, while Moyers shot 75 and 66 on Saturday. Patrick Reed of host Augusta State holds the lead, with a two-round total of 11-under-par 133, eight strokes ahead of the pair of Hokies.
Sophomore Blake Redmond (Sugar Land, Tex.) is tied for 59th place at 146. Freshman Jacob Everts (Ooltewah, Tenn.) shot 151 and is tied for 82nd and junior Garland Green (Tazewell, Va.) shot 152 and is tied for 86th.
Augusta State leads the event with a two-round total of 544, eight strokes ahead of South Carolina. Tennessee is third at 559, Clemson is fourth at 560 and Duke and Georgia Southern are tied for fifth at 563. UNC Greensboro is seventh at 564 and Illinois, USC Aiken and Alabama are tied for eighth at 571. Chattanooga is 11th and Kent State is 12th at 574, five strokes ahead of the Hokies. Minnesota is 14th at 581, Coastal Carolina is 15th at 583, Lamar is 16th at 584, Houston is 17th at 588 and Georgia State is 18th at 592.
The final round will be played on Sunday morning.
