CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Virginia Tech golfer Marshall Bailey shot an opening round five-over-par 77 and is tied for 119th place at the NCAA Men's Golf Championship at the 7,395-yard, par 72 The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee Tuesday afternoon.
Bailey, a junior from Fincastle, Virginia, made the turn at even par after two birdies and two bogeys, before shooting +5 on the second nine. He began his round on the tenth tee at 8:55 a.m., on Tuesday.
Jesper Kennegard of Arizona State and Henrik Norlander of Augusta State each shot a four-under-par 68 and lead 10 individuals at three-under-par by one stroke. Oklahoma State and Florida State are tied for the team lead at five-under-par 283 and lead Oregon by one stroke.
All 30 teams and six individuals will play 54 holes of stroke play to determine the individual champion and the top eight teams that will advance to the championship round. Bailey will tee off at 2:05 p.m. from the first tee on Wednesday and will then be regrouped for Thursday’s third round.
