Men's Soccer Falls in BIG EAST Opener
    O'Brien scores in tough loss

    The Virginia Tech men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to the Boston College Eagles Saturday afternoon in Blacksburg, Va.

    The Eagles struck early in the match when Bobby Thompson knocked a shot past Hokie goalkeeper Colin Kibler (Virginia Beach, Va.) at the 4:02 mark. The assist on the goal was credited to Chris Cleary and Casey Schmidt.

    Tech would battled back to dead lock the game at the 51:23 mark when Bobby O'Brien (Williamsburg, Va.) took a pass from Jeremy Parsels (Woodbridge, Va.) and beat Boston College keeper Danny Caruso. The goal was O'Brien's third on the year and Parsels' first assist of the year.

    The Eagles would go on the score the winning goal at the 71:47 mark. Casey Schmidt took a pass off a free kick from Kirt Dorsett and punched it in. Dosett was credited with the assist.

    Kibler collected four saves for the Hokies in the match and Caruso also produced four saves for Boston College.

    The loss drops Tech to 4-2 overall and 0-1 in BIG EAST play. The Eagles improve to 3-2 on the year and 2-1 in conference play. The Hokies are back in action Tuesday when they travel to Georgia Southern to take on the Eagles. The match is set for a 4 p.m. start time.
