Hokies Post Second Straight Tie
September 24, 2000

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Virginia Tech men's soccer team tied UNC-Charlotte, 0-0, Sunday night in the final game of the PUMA Soccer Classic in Charlotte, N.C.

Hokie goalkeeper Colin Kibler's (Virginia Beach, Va. Beach) strong play in goal helped the 0-0 tie in great part. Kibler played the entire 120 minutes in the match for the Hokies, collecting 17 saves on 24 UNC-Charlotte shots. The shutout was the second for Kibler this year.

Tech placed second in the weekend event by virtue of a 3-3 tie with Central Florida and the 0-0 tie with UNC-Charlotte. UNC-Charlotte placed first in the tournament. Kibler, Ryan Cummins (Woodbridge, Va) and Garrett Owens (San Antonio, Texas) were named to the all-tournament team for the Hokies.

The Hokies second straight tie puts them at 1-5-2 on the season. They will be back in action Oct. 4 when they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to play James Madison.
