Men's Soccer Falls to James Madison
    Silva Collects Two Assists in the Loss

    HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech men's soccer team fell to James Madison 4-2 Wednesday in Harrisonburg, Va.

    The Dukes scored the first four goals of the match before the Hokies got on the board.

    The scoring opened when James Madison's David Wood sent a ball to Brandon Wright who headed it over Hokie goalkeeper Colin Kibler (Virginia Beach, Va.) The goal came at the 18:23 mark in the match.

    The next Duke goal came at the 22:33 mark when Rob Overton scored off a corner kick by Randy Steeprow .

    Wright also scored JMU's third goal when he scored on a header off a Randy Steeprow throw-in at the 51:07 mark. The final JMU goal of the match came when Wood connected on a penalty kick at the 68:48.

    After James Madison finished scoring the Hokies responded with two goals. The first Tech goal came when John Havas (Mechanicsburg, Va.) scored off a corner kick from Fred Silva (Sau Paulo, Brazil). With just 59 seconds left, Tech scored again when Silva sent a long ball to Mike DeTomo (Mandeville, La.), who scored from five yards out.

    Tech totaled 12 shots, eight corners and 15 fouls in the contest. James Madison tallied 22 shots, 8 corner kicks and 16 fouls.

    Tech goalkeeper Kibler played 45-minutes in goal and collected four saves and allowed two goals. Ben Pinkerton (Blacksbyurg, Va.) played the remaining 45-minutes. He also collected four saves and allowed two goals.

    The loss leaves Tech at 1-6-2 on the year. They will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to Appalachian State.
