Men's Soccer Grabs First BIG EAST Win
Jonmaire scores second goal of the year in the victory

The Virginia Tech men's soccer team grasped itsfirst conference win Saturday night in Syracuse with a 2-0 victory over the Orangemen.

The Hokies struck early in the match when Ken Jonmaire (East Aurora, N.Y.) scored at the 9:36 mark. The goal was Jonmaire's second of the year and Bobby O'Brien (Williamsburg, Va.) was credited with the assist on the play, upping his point total on the year to nine.

Tech increased its lead to two goals when Ty Enmark (Sterling Heights, Mich.) scored off of a Karl Schlegel (Indianapolis, Ind.) pass. The goal came at the 75:11 mark and was Enmark's first of the year. Schlegel's assist brings his point total to six on the year.

Colin Kibler (Virginia Beach, Va.) played strong in goal for the Hokies. He gathered six saves in the match on 12 Syracuse shots. Kibler's shutout performance was his fourth of the year.

The win improves Tech's record to 6-2 overall and 1-1 in the BIG EAST conference. The loss drops the Orangemen to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Hokies are back in action Tuesday when they host Radford in their annual battle for the New River Rock awarded to the winner of the Tech/Radford match each year. The match is set for a 4 p.m. start time.
