Virginia Tech's Chase Harrison Garners ACC Honors
Goalkeeper helps lead the Hokies to their first-ever ACC win
October 11, 2004 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia Tech junior Chase Harrison was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week after posting a shutout against No. 1 Duke in the Hokies only contest of the week. The 1-0 victory was Tech's first-ever against a No. 1 opponent and its first-ever win in the ACC. Against the Blue Devils, Harrison faced 24 shots and recorded five saves in route to his sixth shutout of the season. A native of Huntington, W. Va., Harrison leads the ACC in shutouts and is third in the conference in goals against average (1.08) and save percentage (.750). The Hokies return to action Tuesday as they host High Point at 7 p.m. Tech also faces Maryland on Sunday in a 1 p.m. contest. Both matches will take place in the Virginia Tech Soccer Stadium.
