Hokies Suffer Defeat At Hands Of Rhode Island
    Tech faces Massachusetts Sunday at 1:00pm

    KINGSTON, RI -- The Virginia Tech menās soccer team fell to the University of Rhode Island, 3-0, Friday evening.

    The Hokies took six shots on goal, but failed to score. Tech also tallied nine corner kicks and six fouls.

    Tech goalkeeper Colin Kibler (Virginia Beach, Va.) played 90 minutes in goal with six saves and three goals allowed. On the season, Kibler has tallied 797 minutes in goal, 64 saves with 13 goals allowed for a 1.47 goals against average and a .831 save per centage.

    Stephen DeMovera netted the first goal for Rhode Island at the 37:02 mark. Nicholas McCreaton would strike in the second half for the second Rhode Island goal at the 67:37 mark. Anthony Curtis would finish off the scoring for Rhode Island with the final goal at the 89:32 mark.

    Rhode Island totaled 18 shots, three corner kicks, two saves and nine fouls.

    Tech will return to action Sunday, Oct. 10 when they travel to face Massachusetts. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
