Nyarko Named ACC Player of the Week
Forward honored for his efforts in last week's two wins

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Virginia Tech men's soccer team's Patrick Nyarko was honored by the Atlantic Coast Conference earlier today, being named Player of the Week for his performances in the Hokies' two wins last week.

Nyarko (Kuntase, Ghana) tallied three goals and had an assist for the week. The freshman scored the game-winning goal in both contests for Tech. Against Radford on Wednesday, he had a goal and assisted on the Hokies' second score en route to a 4-0 victory. On Saturday, Nyarko scored both goals in the 2-1 defeat of No. 5 Virginia in Charlottesville. The match marked the second straight victory for Tech over the Cavaliers.

After becoming eligible in the sixth match of the year, Nyarko has tallied eight goals and five assists in 12 contests for a team-best 21 points. He has also sparked the Hokies to a school-record 10-match unbeaten streak. During the streak, Tech is 9-0-1 and garnered a school-record setting seven-match winning streak.

Earlier today, Nyarko was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the second time this season.

On Oct. 10, Nyarko was also named ACC Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over then-No. 4 North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Tech is 10-3-4 overall and 3-1-3 in the ACC. The Hokies return to action on Friday, Nov. 4, at the Virginia Tech Soccer Stadium when they take on the Maryland Terrapins at 7 p.m.
