BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech freshman forward Patrick Nyarko was named the Soccer America Player of the Week Wednesday afternoon.

Nyarko (Kuntase, Ghana) tallied three goals and an assist in two wins last week for the Hokies. On Oct. 26, Nyarko netted the game-winner and added an assist in a 4-0 win over Radford, helping Tech retain the New River Valley Rock. In a Saturday night game against Virginia, Nyarko scored both goals in the Hokies' 2-1 win in Charlottesville. It was the first time in school history that Tech had won at UVa.

The two victories last week improved the Hokies' record to 10-3-4 on the season and 3-1-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Riding a school-record 10-match unbeaten streak, Tech climbed into the No. 10 position in the Soccer America poll on Monday. It marked the program's highest-ever ranking.

Nyarko and the Hokies will take on the Maryland Terrapins on Friday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m., at the Virginia Tech Soccer Stadium.
