CARY, N.C. - The Virginia Tech men's soccer team split a pair of 60-minute matches last weekend in Cary, N.C.

The Hokies fell to Wake Forest 2-0 before defeating Duke 1-0 in the second match of the day as every member of the team played in both contests.

Tech had a couple of scoring chances against the Demon Deacons in the opening half, but was unable to convert. Tied at 0-0 at the intermission, Wake Forest scored both goals after Hokie defensive errors.

Head coach Oliver Weiss' team would rebound to beat the Blue Devils in the final match of the afternoon.

Freshman Patrick Nyarko scored the lone goal after making a solo run through the left side of the box and the defense earned its second shutout of the spring season in the 1-0 win.

Tech will travel to Radford, Va., on Saturday, Apr. 8, and face two opponents. The Hokies take on Newberry at 1:15 before facing King College at 2:30 p.m.
