Edmans helped Tech extend its winning streak to three matches and earned Tournament MVP at the Hawthorn Suites Hokie Invitational this weekend. He scored a goal and dished out two assists to help the Hokies to a pair of 2-1 wins over No. 19 Clemson and St. John's on back-to-back-days.
The 6-6 Essex, England native was credited with an assist on Ben Nason's game-winning goal in double overtime against No. 19 Clemson. Against St. John's, Edmans added another assist then scored his first collegiate goal for the game-winner.
The honor was the first of Edmans' career and the first for the program since Patrick Nyarko won the award on Oct. 31, 2005. Edmans now ranks second on the team with four points through four matches while Nason tops list with five points on two goals and one assist.
The Hokies' next appearance will be the first televised match in program history, as part of the NSCAA's College Match of the Week coverage on Fox Soccer Channel. Tech begins play at the Level 3 Golden Hurricane Classic against Tulsa at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Sept. 14 in Tulsa, Okla.
