Hokies face Monarchs in third round
11th-seeded Tech hosts Old Dominion in NCAA Tournament on Sunday

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Fresh off its first NCAA Tournament win in school history, 11th-seeded Virginia Tech will play host to Old Dominion in the championship's third round at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Tech Soccer Stadium. Tickets to the third-round match will be available through Friday at the ticket office in Lane Stadium at a cost of $10 for the adult general public, and $5 for students and children. Everyone in attendance will need to purchase a ticket. Walk-up sales at the Tech Soccer Stadium gate are the same price and will be available 90 minutes before kickoff. Thanks to their 3-2 win over California on Wednesday, the Hokies (12-3-5) have advanced twice in the NCAA's postseason tournament since 2002. Tech has qualified for the NCAA Championship the last three years and four times in the past five seasons. The Hokies have compiled a 1-2-2 mark in five matches with games decided by penalty kicks officially recorded as ties. Old Dominion (14-6-3) earned a 1-0 opening-round win against Providence on Nov. 24 before upsetting No. 6 seed Brown, 2-1 in double overtime, in Wednesday's second round in Providence, R.I. The Monarchs won the Colonial Athletic Conference championship with an 8-2-1 mark in league play.
