BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech men's tennis team got back on the winning track Sunday with a 6-1 win over the Brown Bears at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. The Hokies had their seven-match winning streak snapped Friday afternoon against No. 22 Tulane but put together an impressive performance to win Sunday's match.

Tech (13-5), ranked No. 39 in the Omni Hotels/Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, won two of the three doubles matches then took five of the six singles matches for the victory. Sabir Kadiri (Jr., Algiers, Algeria), ranked No. 78, defeated Justin Natale 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles match while Francis Huot (Jr., Quebec City, Canada) won a tough 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 decision at No. 2 over Nick Malone. Stephane Rod (Fr., Lausanne, Switzerland) won a hard-fought 6-3, 6-7, 6-4 match at No. 3 against Jamie Cerretani while at No. 4 Davor Dupljak (Sr., Karlovac, Croatia) defeated Chris Drake 6-3, 6-1.

Michael Kurz (Jr., Stuttgart, Germany) eased past Adil Shamasdin 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 and David Emery (Fr., Fairfax, Va.) suffered a tough 7-5, 5-7, 10-7 defeat at No. 6 against Nicholas Goldberg.

In doubles action, the No. 2 team of Andreas Laulund (So., Odnese, Denmark) and Rod defeated Malone and Shamasdin 8-6 while Kurz and Dupljak won 8-5 in the No. 3 match over Goldberg and Cerretani. Tech's No.1 duo of Huot and Kadiri lost 8-2 to Drake and Natale.

The Hokies return to action on April 5 for a 3 p.m. home match against No. 15 Virginia Commonwealth All home matches are played at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus.
