PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 44 Virginia Tech men's tennis team lost a tough match to No. 43 Brown on Sunday afternoon, 5-2.

The Hokies now stand at 8-3 on the season while the Bears improve to 8-2.

Brown took the doubles point after winning two of the three matches. Tech's Albert Larregola and Nicolas Delgado beat Saurabh Kohli and Chris Lee 8-6, but the team couldn't win either of the other two matches for the point. The Hokies' Brent Wilkins and Alexei Sergeev fell to Eric Thomas and Noah Gardner 9-8. Brown's No. 50 doubles team of Phil Charm and Dan Hanegby defeated Tech's David Rosenfeld and Brandon Corace 8-4 for a 1-0 lead.

In singles action, Rosenfeld knocked of Charm in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Delgado handed Cooley a loss in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5 for Tech's two points.

However, the rest of the match was all Brown. Corace fell to Basu Ratnam in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Larregola lost a tough three-set match to Hanegby, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4. The Be'rs' Thomas beat Sergeev 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. Wilkins fell to Luke Tedaldi, 7-6, 6-7, 1-0 (8).

Tech looks to get back on track next Saturday, when the team travels to Richmond, Va., and will face Southern Methodist at 10 a.m.
