Hokies win 6-1 at The Citadel
Tech wins third straight match

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Virginia Tech men's tennis team won its third straight match with a 6-1 victory over The Citadel on Thursday afternoon.
The 54th-ranked Hokies (11-4, 2-0 ACC) started the afternoon off with the doubles point. Tech sophomore Alexei Sergeev and sophomore Albert Larregola defeated Ananda Sawmynaden and Derek Jose 8-4 at No. 2 doubles, while senior Brent Wilkins and junior Arvid Puranen won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles over David Lara and Nick Medica.
In singles action, Puranen, ranked 83rd in the ITA Collegiate Rankings, defeated Daniel Dossetor 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. No. 2 singles saw Larregola take a 6-2, 6-2 win over Sawmynaden, and freshman Nick Delgado defeated David Lara 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
Tech also earned wins at No. 5 and 6 singles. Freshman David Rosenfeld won 6-1, 6-2 over Nick Medica at No. 5 singles. At No. 6 singles, freshman Christian Guevara defeated Derek Jose, 6-0, 6-3.
The Citadel won at No. 3 singles, as James Eason defeated Sergeev 6-1, 6-0. Tandom of Eason and Dossetor also gave the Bulldogs a win at No. 1 doubles, downing Rosenfeld and Delgado 8-6.
The Hokies return home on Sunday, March. 19 to take on Penn State at the Burrows/Burleson Tennis Center at 11 a.m.
