BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 14 Miami Sunday afternoon at the Burrows/Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus. The Hurricanes improved to 15-3 on the year and 7-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference while the Hokies, ranked No. 54, fell to 12-11 overall and 3-6 in the ACC.

In singles, Tech's lone victory occurred at No. 4 where Nicolas Delgado (Fr., Madrid, Spain) recorded a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Tim Krebs. Elsewhere, Arvid Puranen (Jr., Lulea, Sweden), ranked No. 52 nationally, dropped at 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 1 singles to fifth-ranked Luigi D'Agord while Alexei Sergeev (So., Moscow, Russia) lost his No. 2 contest against Daniel Vallverdu, 6-4, 6-1. Albert Larregola (So., Lleida, Spain), ranked No. 125, lost 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3 to No. 72 Josh Cohen, David Rosenfeld (Fr., Coral Gables, Fla.) fell 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (6) at No. 5 to Eric Hechtman and Brandon Corace (Fr., Naples, Fla.) dropped at 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (3) match at No. 6 versus John Hoyes.

The match opened with Miami winning all three doubles contests. The 30^th-ranked team of D'Agord/Vallverdu defeated Christian Guevara (Fr., Parkland, Fla.)/Brent Wilkins (Sr., Richmond, Va.), 8-5, at No. 1 while Tech's Delgado/Larregola lost, 8-1, at No. 1 against Krebs/Vivek Subramanian. Miami completed the sweep as Puranen/Rosenfeld lost, 8-4, to the Hurricanes' Cohen/Hechtman in the No. 3 contest.

The Hokies return to action for their final home match on Wed., Apr. 12 at 2 p.m. when they host No. 13 Virginia Commonwealth. Tech's lone senior, Brent Wilkins will be recognized prior to the match.
