Pinto wins two matches at UNC Fall Invite
Tech freshman makes flight finals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Virginia Tech freshman Eduardo Pinto won two matches Saturday to advance to the Red (C-2) singles flight final at the UNC Fall Invitational, presented by One-A-Day Vitamins. The event is being played at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on the University of North Carolina campus.
Pinto (San Jose, Costa Rica), defeated Ashton Goldman (Navy), 6-2, 6-0, before advancing to the finals with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Philip Gegheimer (Temple). Pinto will take on Aaro Carr (Maryland) in the finals Sunday at 9 a.m. Tech's other player in the event, Akil Burgess (Sr., St. Michael, Barbados) dropped his consolation match, 6-0, 6-2, against Martin Redelinghuys (UNCG) in the White (A-2) flight.
In late results from Friday doubles competition, Burgess/Pinto defeated Collins/Mugtig (Wofford), 8-3, in Flight C, but were eliminated Saturday evening, 8-5, by Langeer/Milivojevic (South Carolina State).
