Puranen wins ITA Northeast Regional championship
Tech senior dominates final

PHILADELPHIA - Arvid Puranen won a tough semifinal contest Tuesday morning and then completely dominated the final on the way to capturing the singles title at the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Men's Regional Championships. The event was hosted by Penn University.
Puranen (Sr., Lulea,, Sweden), seeded second and ranked No.34 nationally, defeated the No. 3 seed and 55th-ranked Jason Pinsky in the semifinal, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, before cruising to the title with a 6-1, 6-0, victory over No. 17 seed Jared Drucker (Columbia).
The victory qualifies Puranen for the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships Nov. 2-5 which will be hosted by The Ohio State University at the Racquet Club of Columbus.
