Tech cruises at UCF Spring Classic
Hokies dominate Central Florida

TAMPA, Fla. - The Virginia Tech men's tennis team battled the elements but dominated on the second day of the USF Spring Classic. The event features players from Auburn, Central Florida, Virginia Tech and South Florida and is being played at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts on the University of South Florida campus. The morning matches were delayed by rain and Tech had three matches which will be completed on Sunday before the Hokies play their regular scheduled matches. No doubles matches were contested on Saturday. In singles, Albert Larregola (Sr., Lleida, Spain), ranked No. 42 nationally, defeated Nikolas Overkemping (UCF), 7-6, 6-2, while the Hokies other nationally ranked player, No. 86 Nicolas Delgado de Robles (Jr., Madrid, Spain) took a 6-2, 6-3, win over John Beigart (UCF) 6-0, 6-3, Elsewhere, Yoann Re (So., Verdun, Quebec, Canada) had no trouble with Claudio Romano (UCF), 6-0, 6-3, and Sebastian Jacques (Fr., Magog, Quebec, Canada) picked up a 6-1, 6-4, win against Brock Sakey (UCF).. In the final completed match, Ignaci Roca (Sr, San Jose, Costa Rica) won a tight 6-4, 7-5, win over Blaze Schwartz. Brandon Corace (Jr, Naples, Fla.) had his match against Sinan Sudas (UCF) halted by lightning with the match tied a one set each and results were not available for Eduardo Pinto's (So., San Jose, Costa Rica match against Tarek Ben Soltane (UCF) as well as Preston Lemon's (So., Roanoke, Va.) contest versus Danny Colon (UCF). The final day of the event will take place on Sunday as the Hokies will face members of the host South Florida Bulls.
