Tech concludes play at UCF Spring Classic
Hokies end weekend on successful note

TAMPA, Fla. - The Virginia Tech men's tennis team concluded a successful trip on the final day of the USF Spring Classic. The event featured players from Auburn, Central Florida, Virginia Tech and South Florida and is being played at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts on the University of South Florida campus.

Tech, ranked No. 35 nationally, took four of six singles and two of the three doubles matches against host South Florida Sunday morning. In singles play, No. 42 Albert Larregola (Sr., Lleida, Spain) defeated Mahmoud Hamed (USF) 6-0, 7-5 while Yoann Re (So., Verdun, Quebec, Canada) outdueled Jamaal Adderley (USF), 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-0. Elsewhere, Sebastien Jacques (Fr., Magog, Quebec, Canada) picked up a 6-4, 6-4, win over Michael Musslein (USF) and Ignaci Roca (Sr., San Jose, Costa Rica) won a tough 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5) victory against Thomas Estrada.

Pedro Graber (So., Santiago, Chile) lost 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, to Lucas Jovita (USF) and Brandon Corace (Jr., Naples, Fla.) fell 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, versus Diego Toledo.

In doubles action, Nicolas Delgado de Robles (Jr., Madrid, Spain)/Re won 8-5 over Daudt/Estrada (USF) while Corace/Larregola had no trouble with Musslein/Jovita (USF) winning 8-1. Jacques/Roca dropped a 8-3 contest to Adderley/Hamed.

The Hokies will open the dual match schedule Jan. 25-27, when they host the Larsen Bowker Invitational at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus. Tech will play three matches on Sat., Jan. 26, against Charlotte (9 a.m.), St. Bonaventure (4 p.m.) and Maryland-Baltimore County (7:30 p.m.).
