Florida State took two of the three doubles matches and three of the six singles contests in the victory.
With the score tied at 3-3, the Seminoles' Maciek Sykut earned the deciding point in a three-set thriller with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Pedro Graber (So., Santiago, Chile). FSU earned the other two points from No. 40 Jean-Yves Aubone's 6-4, 6-2 defeat over No. 55 Albert Larregola at No. 1 and from Sam Chang's 6-1, 5-7, 6-1 decision against Yoann Re (So., Verdun, Quebec, Canada) at No. 3.
The best Hokie performance of the day belonged to Nicolas Delgado de Robles (Jr., Madrid, Spain) as he upset No. 58 Clint Bowles, 7-6 (11-9), 6-2 in the No. 2 match. Tech also had wins at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, with Sebastien Jacques (Fr., Magog, Quebec, Canada) defeating Chris Cloer 6-4, 7-6 (3) and Brandon Corace (Jr., Naples, Fla.) beating Bobby Deye, 7-6 (10-8), 6-2.
In doubles, FSU's No. 27-ranked team of Aubone/Bowles defeated Delgado de Robles/Graber, 8-2, at No. 1, while Larregola/Corace fell at No. 2 to Chang/Sykut. Re/Jacques earned Tech's lone doubles victory at No. 3 with a 8-6 decision over Bailey/Cloer.
The Hokies return to action at home on Sunday with a 12 p.m. start time against No. 26 Miami.
