KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Virginia Tech men's tennis team lost a 4-0 decision Sunday afternoon to No. 8 Tennessee in a NCAA Second Round match played at the Varsity Tennis Courts on the University of Tennessee campus. The matches were moved indoors due to high winds in the Knoxville area. The indoor tennis facility has only four courts thus the No. 5 and No. 6 matches were not played.

Tennessee improved to 23-3 and advances to NCAA Sweet 16 in Tulsa, Okla. while Virginia Tech, ranked No. 30, ends the year at 16-9. Tech's Albert Larregola, ranked No. 45 nationally, will participate in the NCAA Singles Championship in Tulsa, May 21-26.

Tennessee, now 21-0 when capturing the doubles point, won two of the three doubles matches, then clinched the match by taking three singles contests. The Vols took a 3-0 lead as Yoann Re (So., Verdun, Quebec, Canada) dropped the No. 3 match, 7-5, 6-1, to No. 93 Boris Conkic and Nicolas Delgado de Robles (Jr., Madrid, Spain) fell, 6-2, 6-3, in the No. 2 match against No. 24 J.P. Smith. Tennessee clinched the victory as Pedro Graber (So., Santiago, Chile) dropped the No. 4 contest, 6-4, 7-6, to Davey Sandgren. Larregola (Sr., Lleida, Spain) trailed 3-6, 4-5, at No. 1 to 35^th-ranked Kaden Hensel when play was halted.

In doubles, Corace/Graber fell, 8-2, at No. 1 versus the fourth-ranked duo of Hensel/Smith and the Hokies dropped the point as Jacques/Re lost, 8-3, in the No. 3 match to Conkic/Fago. Delgado de Robles/Larregola were leading the No. 2 match, 7-6, when it was halted once Tennessee had clinched the point.
