BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team returns to action on Wednesday with a 2 p.m. match against No. 25 Nebraska. The contest will be played at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the Virginia Tech campus.

Virginia Tech (6-3), ranked No. 22 in the latest ITA national poll, snapped a two-match losing streak last Saturday with a 5-2 win over SMU in Richmond, Va. Luka Somen (So., Karlovac, Croatia), ranked No. 67 nationally in singles, is 7-2 in dual matches this season, including wins over three nationally ranked players. Will Beck (Jr., Potomac, Md.) has been solid at the No. 5 position and also has compiled a 7-2 worksheet in dual matches. Yoann Re (Sr., Verdun, Quebec, Canada), ranked No. 51, has wins over two top-20 players.

Nebraska (11-3) has won eight straight matches including wins over No. 23 BYU, No. 35 Arizona and No. 65 Oregon. The Huskers are led by 81st-ranked Calin Paar and No. 82 Christopher Aumueller. Paar is also a member of their No. 73 doubles team with David Bendheim.

The first 100 fans will receive a green VT Long Sleeve T-shirt. All fans can pick up their Hokies Shamrock Shuffle Cards to participate with the Hokies. After attending the tennis match, fans can shuffle on over to the Lacrosse Stadium at 4 p.m., for the match against No. 3 Duke and then to the baseball game at 5:30 p.m. against Rider. All fans who attend all three events will be entered to win a drawing at English Field for a commemorative St. Patrick’s Day baseball game jersey.

Following Saturday’s match, Tech will host No. 62 Maryland on Sunday, March 21, in a 10 a.m. contest.
