Hokie World Series The Virginia Tech baseball team wraps up their annual Hokie Fall World Series this afternoon at English Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:45p.m. The Maroon team, coached by Jay Phillips, currently leads the Orange team, coached by Jon Hartness 4-0. So far this fall, pitchers Ian Ostlund, a transfer from VMI, Joe Saunders, and Chip Runyon have looked good. Pat Pinkman, who sat out last season, hasn't pitched much, but has batted well, hitting a homer in the first game of the series. Catcher Kevin Bice, first baseman John West and outfielder Brad Bauder also have hit well. Second baseman Christian Simmers has looked well in the field. Tech returns most of its players from a team that won the Atlantic 10 last season and advanced to the NCAA Regionals. | |
