Tech to conduct special auction

The Virginia Tech licensing department on campus will be conducting a special auction this Friday on ebay involving the Virginia Tech Hokie Car that ran in the NASCAR Winston Cup race in Richmond in early September. People interested in this should search on ebay, using the words "Virginia Tech" and/or "Hokie Car."

Among the items to be auctioned off are the Elliott Sadler driver's suit, driver's helmet, car hood, car nose, car decklid, car side, and car quarterpanel. All of the items have been autographed by Sadler and all of the Wood Brothers racing team.

The proceeds generated from the auction of these rare pieces of Hokie sports memorabilia will be going to the Virginia Tech Athletic Fund. All of the money is being graciously donated by the Wood Brothers who are selling the car parts, and by Jim Ray, the president of McFeely's Square Drive, Inc. in Lynchburg, Va., who is selling the suit and helmet.

All final bids should be paid with a money order or certified check made out to the owner listed above and mailed to the selling coordinator (Hokie car) when the auction concludes. Most of the larger items will need to be picked up in Blacksburg. However, arrangements can be made for shipping the smaller items (buyer pays the additional cost). Contact the selling coordinator (Hokie car) for winning bid instructions.
