Tech wrestler to transfer

Tech wrestling coach Keith Mourlam said Tuesday that Andrew Shuler, the Hokies' starting 157-pounder, is transferring to the University of Wyoming at the start of the spring semester. Shuler, a sophomore, had won just one match this season and wasn't happy at Tech.

"We decided it was best for him to move on and I support him," Mourlam said.

Mourlam plans on alternating freshman Brent Rider and senior Brian Wilson at 157 for the time being. However, once Eastern Wrestling League action resumes on Jan. 26, Mourlam said he will keep Rider at 149 and wrestle Wilson at 157.

The Hokies take on Howard, American and UNC Greensboro this Sat. at Cassell Coliseum. Next weekend, the Hokies travel to State College, Pa., for the National Dual Championships.
