Ridinger to be honored at Kent State game

BLACKSBURG - Jack Ridinger will be honored Saturday at the Virginia Tech-Kent State football game at the first timeout of the second quarter. Ridinger's widow, Judy, will be on the field for a presentation.
Ridinger, a captain with the Virginia Tech Police who retired on March 31 after 26 years of service, suffered a fatal stroke on Thursday, July 20, while vacationing at Hilton Head, S.C. He was 58.
Ridinger, who was the stepfather of Tech softball coach Scot Thomas, was a long-time supporter of the Hokie softball program and a scholarship has been started in his memory.
