BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech head softball coach Scot Thomas announced Wednesday that Alan Bayse will join the Hokie staff as a volunteer assistant coach.

The former head coach at Roanoke College went 289-100 in nine years at the helm, guiding the Maroons to six ODAC titles and to the NCAA Division III Tournament six times in seven years.

The five-time ODAC Coach of the Year is a 1979 graduate of Radford University. In 2000, Bayse and the RC staff were named Speedline/NFCA Division III Coaching Staff of the Year.
