The defending ACC champion Virginia Tech softball squad will kick off its 2007-08 campaign with two fall tournaments to be played locally. The team is already in its first week of practice and will conclude the fall session with two tournaments in early October.

The first tournament will take place Oct. 5 and 6 at the Botetourt Sports Complex in Troutville, Va. On Friday, the Hokies will take on UNC Greensboro at 5 p.m., followed by James Madison at 7 o'clock. On Saturday, Tech will play Marshall at 11 a.m., before being seeded for a two-game tournament Saturday afternoon.

The second tournament will take place Oct. 12 and 13 at the Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va. On Friday, the Hokies will play Liberty at 6 p.m., followed by Longwood at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Tech will play Radford at 11 a.m., followed by one game against a to-be-determined team at 1 p.m., based on round robin results.

The 2008 schedule is being finalized, but will include tournaments in Miami, Fla., Charlotte, N.C., Salem, Va., Tucson, Ariz., and Long Beach, Calif. Tech is slated to play defending national champion Arizona, along with national powers UCLA, Northwestern and Missouri along the way. The ACC Tournament will be held at the University of Maryland this year.
