BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech senior pitcher Angela Tincher, junior designated player/outfielder Jenna Rhodes and junior second baseman Erin Ota have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III University Softball Team, as announced Thursday.

Tincher, an All-American pitcher, and Rhodes, an All-ACC selection, were both named to the first team for the district, while Ota was named to the second team. For Tincher, it marks the third time she's earned first-team honors. As a sophomore, she went on to second-team Academic All-America honors before earning first-team Academic All-America honors last year.

Tincher, from Eagle Rock, Va., has over a 3.8 GPA in finance. Rhodes, from Broadway, Va., carries over a 3.6 in sociology. Both will now move on to the national ballot. Tincher is one of two pitchers on the first team, joining Florida's Stacey Nelson. Rhodes is the lone DP to earn first-team honors. Voting for Academic All-America begins next week.

Ota, from Irvine, Calif., is an architecture major who carries nearly a 3.5 GPA. She is one of four infielders on the second team.

The ACC had five players on the first team and three on the second team.
