OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - A day after winning the national player of the year award, it came as no surprise that Virginia Tech senior softball player Angela Tincher was named a NFCA First-Team All-American. The award marks the final in a whirlwind 24 hours for the Eagle Rock, Va., native as she was named the winner of the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, the USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Year, as well as the Academic All-America of the Year by CoSIDA.

Tincher currently has a 38-8 record with a nation-low 0.62 earned run average heading into the Women's College World Series. Tincher is now a three-time NFCA All-American with the last two being first-team nods. She was the 2007 and 2008 ACC Tournament MVP and holds the ACC records for career wins (123) and ranks third on the NCAA's all-time strikeouts list with 2,121. Tincher, who has thrown 14 career no-hitters, is second in NCAA history with 13.9 K's per seven innings.

Tincher and the Hokies (48-17) will open the WCWS Thursday against fifth-seeded Texas A&M at approximately 3:06 p.m., Eastern Time (2:06 local time). The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN and ESPNHD, as well as on the Internet at ESPN360.com.

All eight teams at the World Series have at least one player on the All-American squad. The other first-team pitchers are Florida's Stacey Nelson and UCLA's Anjelica Selden.
