BLACKSBURG – Kylie McGoldrick and Ryan McGoldrick - a pair of Virginia Tech student-athletes, will hold an equipment drive to collect lightly used baseball and softball equipment for their charity, 17K Diamonds For All, during freshman move-in this week. The event is being run in conjunction with the Virginia Tech Office of Student-Athlete Development.
Kylie, a senior on the softball team, and Ryan, a freshman walking on to the baseball squad, have been collecting equipment for their charity over the past five years, and then re-distributing the gear to places in need. The siblings started the charity in their hometown of Stratford, New Jersey, and have carried their work to Blacksburg.
During freshman move-in, the two will be collecting for two days:
Friday, Aug. 22 from noon-4 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 23 from 3-6 p.m.
The drop-off will be in front of Cassell Coliseum on the Spring Road side near the bus circle. There will be signs posted around the drop-off location.
The lightly used gear can be any type of baseball or softball equipment. For example, cleats, turf shoes, gloves, bats, helmets, catcher’s gear, batting gloves, baseballs, softballs, and anything like that. The organizations are always more than thankful for any of the gear you can donate.
For those who cannot give equipment these two days, you can contact the charity at email@example.com to set up a donation.
