    Young hired to lead Spirit Squads
    New coach comes to Tech from Ole Miss

    BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech Athletics Department announced the hiring of Perren Young as head coach for the spirit squads. Young comes to Tech having spent the last three years working in the spirit program at the University of Mississippi. During her time at Ole Miss, she worked as an assistant coach coordinating recruiting, as well as all workouts, practices and game day programs for both the varsity and junior varsity co-ed squads.

    Prior to working with the varsity program, she guided the Ole Miss Nationals team to the 2012 World Cheerleading Championship. She graduated with a degree in exercise science from the University of Mississippi in 2010, where she was a four-year member of the cheerleading squad and captain her junior and senior years.
