Responsibilities: Cross oversees the daily operations of Virginia Tech’s three equipment rooms.

At Virginia Tech: Cross, who has been in the athletics department since graduating from the university, started out as an assistant equipment manager for Olympic sports and oversaw the daily operations of all Olympic sports. He later helped design and run the Hahn Hurst basketball equipment room, and he implemented the ACS Computerized Inventory System currently used by Virginia Tech. He also designed and oversaw the renovations to the Cassell Coliseum equipment room.
Education: Virginia Tech, 2001 (B.A. in political science); Virginia Tech, 2007 (master of science in education); Virginia Tech, 2011 (Ph.D. in education, with research focusing on collegiate student-athletes’ experiences with competition athletic apparel and self perception).
Of Note: Cross is a member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association. He also is a certified health education specialist (CHES).
Personal: A native of Nokesville, Virginia, Cross and his wife, Katie, who works in Tech’s Student-Athlete Academic Support Services office, live in Christiansburg. He enjoys riding his jet-ski at Smith Mountain Lake, spending time with two Golden Retrievers (Bailey and Logan), and visiting the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
