    Responsibilities: Jackson oversees the design and implementation of the strength and conditioning programs for the men’s and women’s basketball teams. During basketball season, Jackson’s primary responsibility becomes working with the Virginia Tech men’s basketball team.

    Joined VT Staff: 2006

    Prior to Virginia Tech: Jackson worked as a personal trainer in the Southern California area before coming to Virginia Tech. Before working in California, Jackson served as a graduate assistant at Tech from 1997-99 and was an assistant basketball coach at Fork Union Military Academy from 1999-2000. Jackson played on the postgraduate basketball team at Fork Union before signing to play basketball at UNC Asheville and later transferring to Tech.

    Education: Virginia Tech, 1997 (B.S. in health and physical education); Virginia Tech, 1999 (master’s in health education).

    Of Note: Jackson played basketball at Virginia Tech under legendary coach Bill Foster from 1994-97. He was a member of the 1995 team that won the NIT championship, and he also played on the 1996 team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to eventual national champion Kentucky. In his career, he played in 83 games for the Hokies, averaging 6.2 points per game. His twin brother, Jim, also played for the Hokies.

    Personal: A native of Janesville, Wis., Jackson lives in Blacksburg with his wife, Essie.
