Responsibilities: Kunigonis coordinates all the sports medicine needs for the Tech women’s basketball team, and she also oversees those same needs for the Tech men’s and women’s tennis programs. In addition, she oversees drug testing and assists with graduate assistant recruitment.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Before arriving at Tech, Kunigonis worked as an assistant athletic trainer at Canisius College from 2001-08. She coordinated sports medicine needs for the women’s basketball and women’s soccer programs. She also worked as a professor in the athletic training department.
From 1999-2001, she worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Kentucky, and from 1998-99, she worked as a trainer at Notre Dame High School and the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Personal: A native Pittsburgh, Pa., Kunigonis and her husband, Michael, an assistant baseball coach at Virginia Tech, live in Blacksburg and have a daughter, Mary Alice.
